Gabrielle Vizzavona is a French conference speaker, author, and wine critic, recognized as a leading voice in the European wine scene. She specializes in the analysis of wine and spirits as cultural, economic, and symbolic phenomena.
An expert in the contemporary dynamics of the wine sector, she develops a transversal approach to wine at the intersection of terroir geopolitics, market strategies, and sensory experience. She tastes more than 4,000 wines per year and has traveled to over 30 producing countries.
She holds degrees in Economics from La Sorbonne and ENS Cachan, the DipWSET qualification, and a Master’s degree in Wine Management delivered by the OIV (International Organisation of Vine and Wine) in partnership with Supagro Montpellier, awarded with highest honors. She also completed specialized training at the University of California, Davis.
Since 2023, she has been one of the eighty professionals awarded the title of Cognac Educator by the BNIC (Bureau National Interprofessionnel du Cognac), following a competitive selection process. In this capacity, she contributes to the international promotion and transmission of Cognac’s craftsmanship and cultural heritage.

Gabrielle is the author of the bestselling book Petit Éloge du Vin (Les Pérégrines, 2024), which has sold more than 15,000 copies and received both the Prix Spirit and the International Gourmand Award for Best Wine Book.
Her second book, 1855 – Culte et cultures (Éditions Dilecta, 2025), printed in a limited edition of 855 copies, presents a series of portraits of the Bordeaux châteaux classified in 1855. The work highlights the historic menu collection of Jean-Maurice Sacré and features original engravings by the artist Philippe Cognée.
A wine journalist for nearly fifteen years and recipient of the Prix Curnonsky, she has served as Senior Wine Critic for the specialized publication En Magnum since 2023. She has collaborated as a journalist, wine critic, and television guest with Le Figaro and Le Figaro Magazine since 2015.
In 2021, she founded the wine magazine concept Tanin in partnership with the media group Reworld Media, serving as Editor-in-Chief for one year. She also appeared as a wine columnist on the culinary television program Ça Chauffe en Cuisine (Cuisine+), alongside leading gastronomic experts.
In December 2022, she launched the podcast Wines of the Future in partnership with Vinexpo, which she hosts and co-produces.
She serves on the jury of the literary prize “Tous les goûts ont une histoire” at the Publicisdrugstore Food & Wine Festival, which honors works celebrating gastronomic culture.
She is regularly invited by French and international media, appearing on television, in print press, and in specialized publications worldwide.
Events, Masterclasses & Teaching
A sought-after speaker and moderator, Gabrielle participates in major international events dedicated to wine and gastronomy. She designs and leads masterclasses, analytical tastings, and strategic discussions alongside key players in the sector, including wine estates, professional federations, international trade fairs, and prestigious houses.
Deeply committed to the transmission of knowledge, she teaches at several French and international business schools, primarily within Master’s and MBA programs specialized in wine (INSEEC, KEDGE, ESSEC, ISC, ESG).
She designed a bespoke academic wine program for Ferrandi International and authored case studies used as references at institutions such as King’s College London and École Polytechnique. Since 2018, she has been a member of the jury of the ESSEC Wine Competition.
